Gynecological Cancer Support Group

This is a once-a-month discussion group directed by women for women.

Our goal is to provide women who are living with gynecological cancer with a place to meet others with similar experiences in a setting of privacy, respect and community.

Participants seek and share experiences of our journey, including the diseases, treatments, side effects and coping/adjustment strategies.   We do so with the intention of reducing suffering, providing support and living life fully and with purpose.

What can the group do for me?

We respect individual and family autonomy and use a non-directive, self-help approach to support and assist each other in a compassionate and non-judgmental way (through involvement, information, exploration and problem solving).

Participants respect confidentiality, and use discretion to ensure privacy create an atmosphere in which mutual trust can develop.  Together, we share knowledge of community resources and help each other to access services that may be of benefit to you and to those around you.

Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month at 10 am at the Wellwood O'Conner-O'Connell Family Cancer Support Centre, Juravinski Hospital, First Floor, E-Wing. *Please note that, when a holiday falls on the first Wednesday, the meeting is held the following week.

"Finally, a place where we can talk - really talk - about how gyne cancer has changed our lives.  From fear to infertility to sexuality, no topic is taboo here."  C.B.
